OPTIMIZATION OF TYPICAL US HVAC SYSTEMS THROUGH IMPROVED CONTROLS

This paper presents an analysis of the energy saving potential for a typical US office building by primarily optimizing the control strategies. The resulting efficiency strategies are assumed to be low or no-cost measures and are modeled and analyzed using a whole building simulation (EnergyPlus version 7.0). Conclusions and recommendations are developed for reducing the all-air system energy consumption under the premise of maintaining and even improving the thermal comfort for occupants.
